After his coach Kevin Walters all but ruled him out on Wednesday, Broncos back rower Jordan Riki has made a miraculous recovery from an ankle concern and will play vs the Dolphins, while Reece Walsh has been tabbed a ‘certain starter’.

Unfortunately for their opponents, Tom Flegler has been ruled out, having not been able to recover in time from a shoulder injury he sustained last week.

The Bulldogs will be without a key prop, while two other stars are in doubt to face Melbourne.

Early mail: Bulldogs supremo Phil Gould has revealed Max King has been ruled out after suffering a broken hand in Round 5. Gould Tweeted: “King is out. He didn’t travel to Melbourne”. He also revealed that both Viliame Kikau and Connor Tracey will have to pass fitness tests on Thursday to take the field. Liam Knight looms as the obvious replacement for King, while Jeral Skelton is in line to replace Tracey on the wing if he’s sidelined.

Remarkably, back rower Jordan Rikiis going to line up despite coach Kevin Walters all but ruling him out on Wednesday. Riki rolled his ankle during training on Tuesday, with Walters saying: “We’ll run him on Thursday at the captain’s run and see where he is at. “Jordy is very doubtful. I don’t think he will play but it’s not my ankle and Jordan seemed a bit more confident in the afternoon, but we have to wait and see how he goes at the captain’s run.”

According to The Courier Mail, Flegler won’t be fit enough to face his former side, failing to recover in time from a shoulder injury he suffered against the Tigers in Round 5. Uncapped forward Lachlan Hubner has been called into the Dolphins’ side and will make his NRL debut, as per a social media post from the club.
